The eHealth group of Roessingh Research and Development (RRD) works in national and international consortia on research projects in which innovative care technologies and services are designed, developed, and evaluated. Therefore, the eHealth group has all the expertise to cover the complete trajectory of functional and technological design to implementation in the care context.

We are looking to strengthen our team with a user interface designer / developer. We offer a challenging and diverse function in which are responsible for developing and implementing end-user interaction mechanisms for a wide range of innovative care technologies.

Specifically, we are looking for a:

Junior User Interface Designer

Job activities

Within our multidisciplinary team of software developers, health experts, requirements engineers and evaluation experts, you will be responsible for the front-end of the eHealth applications and web services that RRD develops. Examples of these technologies are smartphone apps to monitor the health of patients, websites with virtual agents that help patients to find their way in the healthcare systems and other creative applications that help people to achieve a healthy lifestyle. You will design visually appealing and usable interfaces, in collaboration with the colleagues that are involved in the different projects, and you will implement these interfaces together with our software developers. Finally, you will help with setting up user research to evaluate your designs and to improve them, based on end-user feedback.

On the basis of your expertise and interests your focus will lie on either the technical implementation or on evaluation with end-users.

What do we ask?

An enthusiastic and driven user interface designer with a passion to apply his/her skills within the healthcare context (eHealth). You have a Bachelors or Master’s degree with a relevant background (e.g. creative design, human computer interaction, graphic design). Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English (both spoken and in writing) are a prerequisite, given the multidisciplinary/international character of the work at RRD and the high amount of contact that you will have with colleagues, clients and other end-users. You have good organizational skills, are precise and you are persistent.

The following skills are a must:

  • User interface design skills (Adobe XD, Balsamiq, etc.)
  • Graphic design skills (Adobe illustrator, Inkscape, Adobe photoshop, etc.)

The following skills are a plus:

  • HTML / CSS / JavaScript
  • Android / iOS App Development
  • Integration with REST APIs
  • Experience with version control systems, like GIT

What do we offer?

A challenging function, starting December 1 2019 (open for discussion) for a period of 3 years for 36 hours per week. The function falls under the collective labour agreement for Dutch hospitals, and salary is set between €2665,- to €3917,- per month, before taxes, depending on experience and education.
